Single monthly subscription lets up to six family members cover multiple Apple devices together, offering accidental damage, theft and battery protection without separate individual plans.
Apple has introduced a new family-oriented version of its device protection subscription, AppleCare One Family, allowing households in the United States to manage coverage for multiple members' devices under a single plan. The offering builds on Apple's existing AppleCare One subscription and is designed to simplify how families protect their gadgets, rather than requiring separate plans for each person. The rollout is currently limited to the US, with no confirmed timeline for expansion elsewhere.
How the family coverage works
Under the new plan, up to six people can pool their eligible Apple devices into one shared subscription with a single fixed monthly fee. The coverage mirrors what's offered under AppleCare+, including unlimited repairs for accidental damage, battery servicing, and protection against theft or loss, spanning devices such as iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches.
Eligibility is largely based on device age and condition — most Apple products under four years old and in working order can be added to the plan. Notably, if a family member purchases a new Apple device after enrolling, it gets added to the existing plan automatically, with no bump in the monthly cost.
Getting the family plan going starts with setting up Family Sharing on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. From there, the primary user can invite as many as five additional people to join, forming a group of up to six members. Once everyone is part of the shared setup, their existing eligible devices can be folded into the same AppleCare subscription.
Pricing and availability
AppleCare One Family will be priced at $49.99 a month (roughly Rs 4,800) in the US, with the plan set to become available starting September 14, 2026. Apple has not indicated whether or when the service might come to other markets, including India.
For context, AppleCare+ in India currently starts at Rs 799 per month, though the exact cost depends on the specific device and the length of coverage chosen. It remains unclear whether Indian users will eventually get access to a similar family-bundled option, or whether pricing would be adjusted for the local market if the plan does arrive.
The launch reflects Apple's broader push to make its services ecosystem more convenient for households with multiple devices and users, potentially reducing the administrative hassle of tracking separate protection plans for each family member. For now, though, the benefit is exclusive to Apple customers in the US, leaving international users to rely on individual AppleCare+ subscriptions for their devices.
