Instead of launching MI 700 Android tablet, Spice has decided to launch an improved version- the MI 720 tablet. Spice groups' Malaysian subsidiary CSL already sells MI 700 Droidpad in Malaysia.
The Malaysian DroidPad MI 700 runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, which is likely to be upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for India, while the rest of its specs remain the same. The tablet is equipped with an 800 x 480 pixel 7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen and supports a regular-sized SIM card. The DroidPad is capable of supporting quadband GSM/Edge/UMTS (3G) and HSDPA (3.5G) networks with WiFi (802.11 b/g) as a backup.
Google's useful and free applications, including Latitude, Maps, Search, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Calendar and Google Voice, will be available as usual. MI 720 is expected to retail for less than Rs. 20,000, when it is launched in August.
